Coach Andy is originally from Venus, TX and played basketball, football and ran cross country and track at Venus High School. Life has definitely come full circle for him as he’s currently the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Venus High School. He also teaches history.
He’s been involved with basketball at the school and grassroots level for over two decades and is passionate about helping youth become better players and people. Andy holds a college degree from Arizona State University. He has two daughters, Brooke & Bailee. Brooke played for HG in High School and went on to earn a scholarship to Baker University in Kansas, where she played for four (4) years. Bailee currently plays for HG and will play for Andy at Venus next year.
Coach Andy has a granddaughter named Kennedy and she’s definitely a source of his pride & joy. He’s hoping that she gets that basketball itch and continues the family tradition.
The players that Andy coaches always get a detailed lesson in basketball. He is a great teacher and does a masterful job of showing the fine details. Coach Andy works with our grassroots program and our HS program, on the girls side.
The thing that he enjoys most about coaching is connecting with athletes and celebrating the moments when it finally clicks for them. He loves to celebrate small victories and looks forward to continuing to grow the game.
